1. Introduction

Mitakon? Who heard about that Chinese brand name one year ago? Almost nobody. Still it took just more than a dozen months and the company have progressed in leaps and bounds, presenting or announcing as many as seven interesting lenses. Four of them, including the Speedmaster f/0.95 models are designed for mirrorless cameras. The producer also remembered about the reflex cameras users, creating for them 2/35, 2/85 and 2.8/135 models. These are manual lenses with casings made of metal. They also share another feature – a price tag, amounting to 199 $.

You have to admit it: a completely metal, full frame lenses with high build quality, a sensible aperture fastness and costing just 199 $ sound really good. Small wonder we didn’t hesitate one moment and asked FoxFoto, the Polish Mitakon distributor, for lending us appropriate specimens for testing purposes. The Creator 35 mm f/2 was tested as the first and the results you can find in the following chapters– enjoy your reading!

You are also invited to get acquainted with our test procedure, described in the article "How do we test lenses?" If you feel it’s still not enough, please go to our FAQ section where you can find some further explanation.
